Begging To Get In
First I want to express my gratitude to David Teter for teaching on such short notice. Thank you so much David. I also hope that all had a good week. This weeks lesson finds us a few chapters further in the gospel of Mark. The scripture for this week is Mark 7:24 -37. If you are like me I think you will be taken back by some of the comments Jesus makes. He is approached by a Gentile women who was born in Syrian Phoenicia. Her child is possessed and she hears word of this Jewish teacher who is healing people. Read what happens on your own, then comment what you think. Later on this week I will respond to some of the comments.

Ok-he tells her to wait her turn that the children will go first Or eat first-She tells him that even the dogs under the table get scraps So is she asking for just a small piece for him. NO CLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is what one might assume when reading the text...very good!!!

I think that the reason Jesus grants this Gentile's - not Jew - request is because she believes in His divinity and powers.
When Jesus says to her "Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children’s bread and to cast it unto the dogs" she responds to Him with "Yes, Lord".
The woman knows without question that He is Lord and she also believes Him when He states taht her daughter is healed.
Her faith got her what she needed as will ours...
PEACE!
