Opting Out!

This weeks lesson moves us further down the journey of the gospel of Mark. Our scripture reading this week is Mark 10:17-31. I hope you get a chance to preview it before class on Sunday. In this section Jesus encounters a very wealthy man who desires to have eternal life. Well thats fair enough, I mean we all desire to have eternal life, but once again Christ response is a little startling and exposes this man's heart. It is really a sad tale of where one's priorities truly are! The Bible says in Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. I always thought it should be, Where your heart is there your treasure will be. I mean, the world teaches that if you try hard enough and work long enough then you can achieve what you desire, right? What do you think? Also, do you think its wrong to have money in light of what Christ just said to this man?

I think that this shows that no matter how hard you try or how much you do, we cant do enough to save ourselves- WE CANT DO ENOUGH!That was the whole perpose of Jesus.

So far as money is concerned- No-I dont believe that it is wrong to have money. It is what you do with that money and whether or not that money becomes a barrier between you and Christ. We tend to start relying on the resources we have instead of relying on and trusting in Jesus.
