A Suffering People
I don't know about you, but suffering is not on my list of favorite activities. Yet the Bible mentions is several places about suffering for Christ sake. History is full of tale of individuals who suffered for what they believed in. What about you? Are you or have you ever suffered for your faith in God? What does that actually mean? Are we to walk around with long drawn faces and looking miserable? Read your lesson this week and find out what Peter is talking about. The scripture for this weeks lesson can be found in the book of 1 Peter 4:12-19.

I personally have never had to undergo the suffering and persecution like that of our missionaries in corners of the earth that do not allow any talk of Christ. But persecution and suffering comes in many different forms and degrees. I have experienced being left out (or at least feeling left out) of functions because "you are a Christian and will be a drag on things". My husband has been called "Preacher" as an insult and not a praise.
As Christians we sometimes feel as if things just dont go our way and we question why... If God is on our side, then why are we not seeing the "benefits" of such a mighty God?
It's because of all of the evil forces that surround us trying to make us believe that there are no benefits for loving Jesus... satan wants to cloud our vision from seeing the END results of loving God... satan wants us to see the here and now.
But here's the catch...the here and now is just that- here and now - our future as Christians is so much more than that! What about AFTER here and now? As Christians the AFTER is eternity with our Father in Heaven!
I do believe that no matter what the suffering God is in control! There is NOTHING that satan can do that God can not undo- the devil just doesnt have that kind of power. And when God allows suffering, it's because He has a plan... we may not always understand it, but that is why we have Faith and at sometime in our life a pearl is found in the suffering.
